Attention #YEGmusic-ians, karaoke superstars, & music fans:The Heart of the City festival, held the first weekend of June in Edmonton's Little Italy neighbourhood, didn't get their grants approved in time this year, so they decided to get creative. Their musical headliner for the day is going to be the audience.Yes, that's right, the plan is to jam. They're hoping for a record-breaking joyful noise. (I have no idea what record there is to break.) At Unbound on Sunday Apr 26, Chronos presents a program of works that highlight new - and Canadian - choral music.The ensemble is busy rehearsing: here is a clip from Edge of Dawn by Nicholas Ryan Kelly.Using text from Lola Ridge, the text takes us to the moment dawn starts to break and the natural world slowly comes alive.
