There are situations in which #kindness, or benefit, on a large scale would require #cruelty, or harm, on a small scale; and vice versa.Also, situations in which kindness, or benefit, in the present would lead to cruelty, or harm, in the future; and vice versa.Generally: in which doing good (or bad) from one perspective functionally equals doing bad (or good) from another perspective.Such tension among perspectives gives rise to difficult moral questions.I sometimes think about this when I notice social media profiles or posts suggesting that "be kind" is an ideal single principle to live by.#morality
