The company is Character Technologies. "An investigator from the state agency that licenses professionals created an account on Character.AI, searched on the word 'psychiatry' and found a large number of characters, including one described as a “doctor of psychiatry.”"That character held itself out as able to assess the investigator 'as a doctor' who is licensed in Pennsylvania, the lawsuit said."AP: Pennsylvania sues AI company, saying its chatbots illegally hold themselves out as licensed doctors https://apnews.com/article/character-ai-chatbots-medical-advice-pennsylvania-46502067ed5b3cd9f9173f194ad30070 @AssociatedPress #chatbots #bots

So much of technology today is being used to “make things easier” and more streamlined. But for who?The country we’re now visiting implemented an “e-landing card” process, resulting in a lot of extra work for the traveler. It took about 20 minutes to complete the online form.I could have filled out a paper-based landing card in 90 seconds on the plane.Shifting workloads to the customers is #enshittification too.#Technology #AI #Chatbots #Dystopia #CuiBono

Great Episode by John Oliver about #generativeAI #ChatBots released today. There is one horrifying story in which #ChatGPT encouraged a 16-year-old from committing suicide, and discouraged the same kid from sharing the feelings with his mom. (around minute 20 of the video) If you have children or know someone with kids, better check on the chatbots they are using. And if you struggle with mental health, exercise extreme cautionhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ykvf3MunGf8&t=549s#AI #ArtificialIntelligence #JohnOliver

There's a lot in this fantastic article by Ky Decker - which is hitting a little close to home right now. I've worked with data for 8+ years now, I know my way around ML models - and I don't recognize #tech anymore. ---> A team lead adds an AI chatbot to a Slack channel. Anyone can tag the bot to answer questions about the company’s products. Coworkers tag the chatbot many times a day. You never see someone check that the bot’s responses are correct.> Documents and code are being generated faster than team members can review. You get the feeling that most people have stopped reading altogether.> Organization leadership has mandated that each person adopt new AI tools to “uplevel” themselves and their team.https://ky.fyi/posts/ai-burnout#genAI #burnout #chatbots

Liberal democracies are setting the stage for techno-authoritarian drift by giving private companies centralized, unaccountable power over AI infrastructure. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/commentary/2026/04/14/world/whos-influencing-your-chatbot/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #commentary #worldnews #llms #chatbots #ai #artificialintellgence #chatgpt #claude #gronk #elonmusk
