@pawpower @NicksWorld @SapphireRose91 @ratking What she said. Giving opinions is fine. But frame it as to how it impacts you.

@mcourcel @pawpower @NicksWorld @SapphireRose91 @ratking Didn't we *just* go through this with your blanket statement about dating apps...

@NicksWorld Everyone has differing experiences. I know plenty of blind people who use the mac full time.

@SapphireRose91 @NicksWorld So do I, but look at the questions they ask and the issues they raise. These are usually basic things about reading, they're not corner issues with weird programs, they're to do with the browser, the mailer, all that.

@mcourcel @pawpower @SapphireRose91 @ratking When I was in College and wrote essays, I used windows because I found using the app pages for essay writing to be weird and I needed to turn in my essays properly formatted and I just could not do that with IOS or iPad OS.

@NicksWorld @mcourcel @SapphireRose91 @ratking See, this is an opinion. You are stating your experience and talking about how it impacts you. That is great. That helps people understand where you're coming from.

@NicksWorld @ratking @SapphireRose91 Personally, and this is for me only, I use a Mac because it is the operating system on a computer that works most consistently with braille every single time. It doesn't matter which display it is it doesn't matter what kind of connection, Bluetooth or USB I can get braille every single time and for me that is the most important thing. I can work around everything else, but if I don't have braille, I don't have access and I know windows has NVDA and jaws and every time I try and use a display with one of these at some point I have to have a hearing person or someone who can see help me fix the configuration settings to fix it and it's annoying. So I will always use a Mac until Windows is as good with braille support as the Mac is.

@pawpower @NicksWorld @ratking @SapphireRose91 I agree. Most sadly, and with respect, you're going to wait a long time. Not so much for Windows to be as good as the Mac with braille, my argument is that it already can be, but for Windows to be as stable with braille as the Mac is. Because the Mac's braille support is deeper in the OS, Braille is far more stable than it is with Jaws, let alone NVDA and braille extender, just for example. This is seriously unfortunate, I wish the other stuff on the Mac worked as well so I could switch to it. The two greatest disappointments in terms of accessibility over the past twenty years, with a huge amount of wasted potential, are OSX and Android. Are they usable? Sort of, but we should be flying on them!

@NicksWorld @MariahL @mcourcel @pawpower @SapphireRose91 @ratking I would like to use my Mac more than I do, so if there are people here who use Mac as there daily driver, are there any resources out there that could help me learn how to use my Mac more efficiently? I would be more than willing to learn, because I really do like my Mac, but because I've been using Windows for longer, I'm not as familiar with how to use a Mac. And yes, everyone has purposes for different things, it’s not productive to indirectly bash people because you don't understand how they use something you don't.

@NicksWorld There you go. An uninformed opinion. You, don't use a mac. You can't give an opinion like that without having evidence to back it up.

@SapphireRose91 @NicksWorld with respect, I would say the same. By all means try the stuff yourself for a few days at least. It shouldn't cost money, no questions asked returns do happen and if you have a credit card, there is no issue. Try the products yourself. Everything else is just hearsay. By all means listen to the hearsay, but give yourself a week or two with everything, at least enough time to get over the hump. Your opinion will be both more interesting and, I think, a good deal more nuanced.

It did, but not because the Mac was hard to use, but because I was being a dumbass and I forgot to install the harmony mod first before Rimworld Access, and that's why it wasn't working, not because my Mac was all of a sudden too hard for me to use.

@SapphireRose91 @NicksWorld That's true too, but I always hate those because they don't really get it and want to show you what you can do without VO. I have yet to see a guy really know how to use VO in a session, and indeed can't really expect it. I don't, of course, mean someone knowing how to turn it on, I mean really work with it.
