I'm reading Mort by Terry Pratchett right now. I've previously read The Colour of Magic.
The one thing I get from Pratchett from his writing is that a lot of the time the plot isn't quite as cohesive as Pratchett is so busy trying to get the reader from one funny scenario to the next. Also, IMHO the humour is quite subjective.
What I'm trying to say is that I'm not quite sure if Terry Pratchett does it for me.

So it turns out I was listening to the audiobook, and my brain had a little frazzle at times when listening to Mort. I'm re-reading the sections and I actually understand what's going on plot-wise.
I'm actually enjoying Mort now!

@soheb Do you think the plot in Mort feels less cohesive than in The Colour of Magic, or is it a different kind of funny?

@hannaB So I was listening to the audiobook of Mort before and I missed parts of it due to lack of attention span. I'm now re-reading the book, especially the parts where I have gaps and the story is a lot more cohesive.
I would say Colour of Magic is far less cohesive. Magic really had chapters that felt like a rough draft, whereas there is an overall story going on in Mort.
