@bodil guaranteeing yourself to recruit certain kinds of people and turn off others (including people plenty good at high school who just identify what a weird thing that is to ask!)

@raphael It's like there's a law that says South African billionaires have to be weird in those particularly awkward ways.

@bodil damn ubuntu's been the only distro that doesn't constantly crash my machine, I've tried multiple fedora versions and nixos and my machine randomly crashes. Last week I tried kubuntu and it's been smooth so far...

I'll try Aurora next and hope

@bodil Aurora Linux brags on their homepage about enabling "local AI workflows". Not sure how that differs from what Canonical is doing.

@cholling It's the difference between being able to install Ollama and coming preinstalled with Copilot, I guess.

@kaliranya @cholling At the moment, the only distro with an explicit anti-AI policy is Gentoo.

@pluralistic@mamot.fr I recommend two, readily available, though perhaps not inexpensive, commercial items in response. A drone and a can of spray foam insulation. This is where I'm supposed to add that this is a joke. I am explicitly not adding that.

I've been warning people about Canonical and their bad decisions for over a decade, and even I didn't expect this one.

@bodil Dito. After some bad experiences regarding "legacy hardware support", I decided that Ubuntu could not be relied upon.
