I truly do not understand the optics game and I am saddened that you've chosen to play it, because it's not something you can gain with, unless your goal is to remain small and irrelevant and a satellite instance of places that do allow it unabated.It is our belief that there is an on-going crisis with the politicization of online communities across various hobbies and interests. We acknowledge that free speech absolutism can attract an audience that may skew the neutrality of our community in a particular direction that may isolate prospective members and risk becoming an echo chamber.
You may have already experienced the very same as we have with predominantly liberal communities where you may have not felt very welcome due to the discrepancies between the values held. We hope to avoid that outcome by offering an supplementary advisories that can be voluntarily followed alongside our rules.
We wish for our community to be a place where anyone and everyone can feel comfortable to participate without feeling alienated and disenfranchised.

Part of our mission statement for the instance is to allow our users to exercise the full range of their speech and expression with the stipulation that expletives aren't made common place. This is strike a balance between our autonomy and anti-censorship while keeping a good rapport with other instances and their operators.
I'm empathetic to your circumstances however as I have found myself in the same position on numerous occasions. Provided the frequent use of slurs isn't a deal breaker for you, you are more than welcome stick around with us on the instance.

Sure, I acknowledge that. This desire to be le heckin' wholesome chungus site that only occasionally says the gamer word (because we're just above that, unlike le ebil nazis) will just lead you to being declared "poa.st-lite" and blocked by the same exact people regardless. It's a completely pointless hill to stand on. -

We have made our point pretty clearly and have given leniency. As long as you adhere to these rules, there is no problem. It is that simple. If you have a problem with that, I urge you to seek another place.
