The most trustworthy friend anyone could want. The choices he makes to protect his comrades make him a legend in my eyes.

@ami_angelwings Here's an offbeat one: the Chief of CONTROL, from the 1960s series Get Smart, played by Edward Platt. His job was to convince himself every week that it was still a good idea to send Maxwell Smart on assignments while also trying not to strangle him. Platt was very very good at doing a slow burn.

(I think this counts as a C? His real first name comes up once, but everyone calls him Chief, and it's even how he's listed in the credits.)

@ami_angelwings Right now, Carl. Who you ask? From Dungeon Crawl World: Earth!

Recently picked up the first book (Dungeon Crawler Carl) and I’m hooked. It has some issues that I usually find tropey but the author pulls it off anyways. It’s a bit self aware.

Carl is a great character because he’s not a super human or has some kind of flawless super character. He’s a flawed protagonist that tried his best. Sure he obviously succeeds wildly better than most, but if that wasn’t the case it would have been Dungeon Crawler Carl, the short short story.

His insecurities and strengths and choices makes him an interesting and likable character. Paired with a story shock full of twist and turns that doesn’t feel forced but actually organic. Like the forces we aren’t fully aware of actually function, not just “let’s take all his equipment and put him in a cell” twists. I hate those. Real life is full of fuck you your life is ruined. Don’t want that in my entertainment.

Anyone who has read the books knows my choice for tomorrow

@ami_angelwings someone else replied A2 from nier automata and I think I agree, she has a really compelling emotional arc in the time you spend with her and I just like her a lot. Especially in the supplemental material

@ami_angelwings I’m going to go with a relatively obscure character from the #BelisariusSeries, Calopodius the Blind. He’s a young Roman (well, Greek, but whatever) soldier who gets blinded and becomes the scribe/historian of the era. #FavCharacterAToZ #FavCharacterC

(This is a #book series co-authored by the late #EricFlint and #DavidDrake, and highly recommended).

Casey Jones is the perfect side character for the Ninja Turtles. He's a deceptively simple idea that shouldn't work but does because you can do just about anything with him, from a depressing rise and fall battle with alcoholism, fatherhood, or even just being so whacky he manages to out-weird the Turtles despite being just a guy with a baseball bat.

@ami_angelwings Cordelia Naismith Vorkosigan, from Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan Saga books. Tougher than any Barrayaran native, best Mom ever, and gets to basically bookend the entire sprawling series with her own adventures, if that's not too grandiose a word. Suffers fools only to a point, and sometimes that point is of a very sharp blade.

The writing in the film wasn't the best, but that character was a really interesting exploration of how someone blind would fight. Furthermore, I really enjoyed how the film displayed his reluctance to fight for the maquis, and the fact that he fights alongside John in the leadup to the final duel.

So I had a LOT of trouble with #FavCharacterC b/c I was trying to decide between Claire Redfield, Columbo & Cassandra Cain. I've decided to go off the board and go with...

Carrie Kelley from The Dark Knight Returns (which I enjoy, I know many people have qualms with it & I'm not uncritical but I like it), who is smart, brave, and has a lot of agency. She becomes Robin on her own, saves Batman multiple times and even breaks his orders to do so, displaying superior computer knowledge in the process. (I also love the generation gap between the two when Batman asked her where she learned to use computers because to Bruce computers are a Big Deal and she says "had to learn something in school" cuz kids grow up on computers now).

We just won't talk about the DKR sequels.
