Middle-eastern inspired soup recipe that I concocted that's been a huge hit at home, so I thought I should share it. Very inexpensive to make, but is tasty and vegan. Serves between 2 and 4.

    *Ingredients*

    - 1 can (550ml) brown lentils (drained)
    - 2 tbsp Sambal or chili paste
    - 2 tbsp Molokhia paste
    - 4 cups water

    Optional stuff for improved recipe:

    - 1/4 tsp cumin
    - 1/4 tsp allspice
    - 1 medium onion
    - 1/2 tsp garlic powder or 1 clove crushed
    - 1/2 cup small conchiglie pasta (prepared)

    *Directions*

    Basic recipe:

    1. Add water, Sambal, Molokhia and lentils to saucepan
    2. Bring to boil and simmer for 10 minutes

    Improved recipe:

    1. Saute onions and garlic (if any) in saucepan until soft
    2. Add water, stir in Sambal, Molokhia, spices, and lentils
    3. Bring to boil and simmer for 10 minutes
    4. Add pasta and simmer for an additional 2 minutes. Add more water if soup is too thick
