This is my 2014 limited edition Epiphone G-1275 double neck guitar. Since I’m not using it at all I’ve decided to take it into my dealer and get it appraised. Depending on what they value it at I could get 70% of that value from them. Hoping they come back with a reasonable offer. #Guitar #GearSquad #MusicProduction

What was the thinking behind the original purchase? Performing? Maybe it was less expensive than buying two separate equivalent guitars? -

My guitar hero was Jimmy Page, and when I saw Epiphone advertising a limited run of 500 I figured it would be really cool to own one. Page always referred to his as “the beast” and trying this one out I couldn’t agree more. It’s tuning heads heavy, so trying to stand with it you have to put a lot of pressure on the top of the body with your elbow and upper arm to prevent it dropping down. And sitting, not going to work. The coolness factor quickly faded. -

I’ve never played a double neck; a friend of a friend has a 6/12 Danelectro double neck and also notes neck dive. But he looks at it as having bought two pretty-OK guitars for less than they’d have cost separately.Ironically, probably the first electric guitar I saw in person was also a double neck. Larry Collins lived near my grandparents for a while, and I saw what I later realized was his Joe Maphis-style double neck Mosrite in the living room when I was about seven. I had no idea, and of course when I was old enough to know about the Collins Kids they’d moved quite a bit out of town.

First time I ever saw one was at Bill Lewis Music in Vancouver when I was a teenager. A white Gibson and it was way out of my price range. Didn’t bother trying it out. It was purchased pretty quickly, I think it might have been Jerry Doucette, who used it when he recorded Mama Let Him Play. Unsurprisingly he never used it (as far as I’m aware) when he played it live. -

I’ve heard tales about both Bill Lewis guitars and the store! -

Provenance! Tell your dealer your doubleneck was played by someone who played “with” someone who built guitars for David Gilmour and Jimmy Page!
