A new cotton tee shirt for my sweetie, entirely hand sewn. Please excuse the dog hair.

The appliqué is my own design. I cut a stencil from card stock for the tree. I painted cotton jersey with acrylic paint thinned with a bit of fabric medium and water that I applied with a makeup sponge. The appliqué is stitched with back stitch and whip stitch.

All the edge finishing is sewn by hand using a method I described a few posts ago using doubled 12 wt thread. #sewing #embroidery

@gwenbeads (I like the visible stitching around the sleeves and collar. And the appliqué is great too obviously)

@PeryleneBleu thank you. The edging is my own discovery. This is the first time I’ve tried this particular version, and im hopeful that it will age well with use. I find this kind of stitching very meditative, and it makes folding laundry more interesting to see how the stitching and cut edges age over time.

@gwenbeads it would ! I sent the post you made about it to friends who sew a lot of garments. I don't usually work with knits myself, but it does look cool and I could be persuaded.
