Here's a shot of a vintage Kettle Creek Canvas shirtdress that I'm refreshing for #WipWednesday . Anybody remember them? I've changed the buttons, removed patch pockets, added inset side pockets and a back kickpleat, lined the belt, and pinned on whimsical embellishments. #The100DayProject Days 14-18I purchased this top sheet at Fabindia in Mumbai 16 years ago, and I've used it almost constantly since then. Recently, the edges started ripping away from the body, so it was time to refurbish the sheet. It took several days to trim away the edges, and today, I ironed it all the way around and sewed down a new edge for the sheet. I'm SO happy to have this sheet back on my bed!Yesterday was an outlier because I spent all day collecting petition signatures in an art supply shop. I bought a bagful of neglected art supplies, and I practised calligraphy, sharpened my watercolour pencils and used them, and I bought and used a new fountain pen.#sewing #upcycled #calligraphy

Thought I'd share my handmade outfit I'll be wearing for the speakers' dinner.For the jeans I used 1083's free pattern 201 and a non stretch denim fabric. @Talia Sounds like a pattern that you'll be modifying heavily if you make it again! There are some fabulous jean patterns out there. Hope you find something that works for the future. My new mantra is, "Everything that I make is a template for the next make".

Yesterday i had some time to draft a pattern (per hand rare indeed).I never made or tried to make my underwear myself, but it always interested me.I also hardly ever sew with knitted fabric, i always prefer woven fabric (maybe sometimes with a bit of stretch). So this will be an experiment.My first try will be a simple slip. I think the front looks good, but i struggled a bit with the lower curve of the back...we will see.#sewing #craft #crafts #patterndrafting

@meet_judith I have always loved the Reader's Digest compendiums of craft books. I learned all the basics of crochet, knitting, and sewing from the needlework book. There is one for fine art and another for traditional crafts like wood and leather. I find them at thrift stores and used bookstores. They have great illustrations to show you how to do the thing. I am left handed and they had instructions to help me. Whenever i wanna just get some ideas and look at a bunch of craft books, I know of no better place than the library.

Today's #sewing tip: before cutting print fabrics with any sort of areola-ish shape, check to make sure that those shapes aren't placed right on the actual wearer's nips (center of front chest line).The sticker on the pattern piece is there to remind me.
