The appliqué is my own design. I cut a stencil from card stock for the tree. I painted cotton jersey with acrylic paint thinned with a bit of fabric medium and water that I applied with a makeup sponge. The appliqué is stitched with back stitch and whip stitch.

All the edge finishing is sewn by hand using a method I described a few posts ago using doubled 12 wt thread.

The edging is my own discovery. This is the first time I’ve tried this particular version, and im hopeful that it will age well with use. I find this kind of stitching very meditative, and it makes folding laundry more interesting to see how the stitching and cut edges age over time.
