I really resent how these kinds of people have forced me to hate them. I don't enjoy hating people. I want to find another way.

But that impulse is clownish at this juncture. It's madness. Perhaps God may heal their souls but I am not God and that is beyond me.

@futurebird Yes, it is hypocritical for most Americans to say they are glad the President was safe when they are eagerly awaiting Trump to die. On the other hand, natural causes are better, because it becomes harder to make him a martyr.

I don't know why this even has spiked my distaste for media so sharply. For the past few days if I hear a news show start mentioning the shooting I turn it off so fast. If I see a post or link about it I scroll away.

      Anyone else have this reaction?

Normally I don't mind listening to the "news" but I've just not wanted to encounter the ritualistic sympathy and the "and that's why you have to do whatever they want now" reaction.

@futurebird I think a big part of it for me anyway—for children in this country, nearly daily, this happens somewhere, and the fear of it is ever-present. The minor ones, these dorks don’t even cover. They’re too afraid of backlash to turn their vast attention apparatus to chronic, violent harm to children.

Now that it’s happened to them, they expect us to care? No. If the kids of America can put up with this, elite media personalities can too

I've been avoiding all coverage of the non-event like the plague. I just can't deal with people being serious, sober, solemn and somber over this.

I don't even want to be serious about wondering if it was "fake" or not. I do not care about these people. I do not care.

But, I *have* wondered what sort of funny things happened. 👀

If you are in the same boat the Humanist Report has given this topic the coverage it deserves. The tone is perfect.

@futurebird It's actually gross. I can't stomach the news in general these days; I kinda just catch up all in one go every 1 or 2 weeks. The daily atrocities are just not good for my wellbeing, but expecting me to be all solemn because somebody wanted to pop off the president!? That's just offensive. Like when they started scolding people for having the audacity to say that Charlie Kirk kinda had it coming... well sorry, but have you looked around? This shit is not fxcing okay.

@futurebird same. As someone who considers themselves a compassionate person, they have drained me of the ability to have compassion for them.

@futurebird Oh, same, exact same. I, simple, completely, do not care about any of these people, or what happens to them.

There are people in the world who would benefit from being cared more about, and they are none of those people.

              @futurebird

People are calling it Operation Ballroom Blitz.

It would be in very bad taste to make a music video of Ballroom Blitz using footage of the incident, but it runs in my head anyway.

I'm not mad at Springsteen for saying he was glad the president was safe. But, I also don't want to hear it or participate.

I keep coming back to "bomb them back into the stone age" I keep hearing those words. It's not appropriate to treat a person so devoid of human compassion and so detached from reality with kid gloves when you know that if someone shot you or me dead this man would giggle and clap like a child.

@futurebird I respect you for not hating Springsteen for this, but I didn't like, grow up with him or anything. He's not some special guy. He's just a guy that has music that I didn't like to begin with, that's always felt a little appropriative, and now I hear that he's praying for the president? No. I just don't care about anyone who prays for fascists, so I vibe so much more with the latter part of your post. I absolutely don't blame you for not being mad at him. I just... I can be mad at him for the both of us. That's also fine.

Trump is a fascist who would kill all people of color if he could. I can't pray for him. I can't wish him well. Not after what he's done and doubled down on so much in the past like... over a decade now.

this is a great summary of how i've felt since... well, Gamergate, really

with maybe a sporadic break during those years where i tried to "be Godlike" and partake in said madness...
