Equal work deserves equal pay.
Three years ago, the EU adopted the Pay Transparency Directive.
Now, EU countries are bringing these new rules into national law:
️ Pay transparency for jobseekers
️ Right to information for employees
️ Gender pay gap reporting
️ Joint pay assessments Because equal pay starts with pay transparency.

@EUCommission
I expect I'll be seeing my company continue to not comply with this. -
@EUCommission I am genuinely curious to see how Italian companies will adjust to this. They are often fond of questionable practices when it comes to contracts and workers' rights, but let’s monitor the situation and fine those that fail to comply. Either way, another win for Europe.
@angelo @EUCommission I know right?
To know how much I could earn for a company I had to:
- Introductory call
- Task wich could take up to 48h
- Call where I explain what I did
- Call with HR
And after all that they'd tell me: "we can give you a stage, 800 euros per month"

@ZiClaud @EUCommission Honestly (and unfortunately), I am not even surprised. Just take a look at the staggering number of co.co.co. or the fact that workers are forced to be "partita IVA" in their contracts, not to mention all the loopholes and escamotages in place to squeeze everything out of you

@angelo @EUCommission I came to comment the same thing. It would be very good for Italy to implement transparency labor laws. But currently both, italian companies and public agencies, are handled with a lot of nepotism.

@EUCommission
I don't remember the last time I saw a job add that listed a real salary, or even a range. It's mostly all "competitive salary" (whatever that means) or something like "depending on experience" or "total compensation to €100.000" where total compensation is a whole other problem.Where can we turn these ads in if the commission already seeking them out?

-
@EUCommission it's often not equal work though. Not everyone performs equally.
Two people could have the same job title and one could outperform the other.
Should they be paid the same?
@shemjm
No, nor do they insinuate that. The first sentence is
> Equal work deserves equal pay.Not
> Equal position deserves equal pay. -

@shemjm @EUCommission sounds like corporate should give them different titles or distribute workload more evenly. Management skill issue

@EUCommission Oh, so now contracts cannot prohibit employees from discussing their salaries with colleagues? That's great! It's perhaps the best and most impactful part of this directive. It will help organically fix the pay gap without any extra burden on companies.
Salary ranges in job postings, and ban on asking candidates about past salaries are also great. The reporting requirements should help, though they also create problems.

@shemjm @EUCommission companies may have to have more granular levels, this happens at some large companies. Senior Engineer Level 1, Level 2 etc

@EUCommission One of the most aggravating aspect of so-called job listings. The phrase "competitive salary" must be made illegal

@EUCommission - with realization that with a posted salary (such as this one) you’ll challenged to find accommodation in many locations that amount to the ‘traditional’ 1/3 of monthly income.

@EUCommission This would be great! At least in Spain the employers write "competitive salary" when they mean 1200 euros per month. #spain

@PictoPulse356 @EUCommission in Portugal they put that, then it's the minimum wage.

@EUCommission not in Portugal, where the government, in coalition with the neolib-fash parties, is actually trying to pass a mega package of alterations to labour laws that intend to regress worker's rights and protections and impoverish the people even further. so I'd like to know: WHICH EU countries are "bringing these new rules into national law"?
