Legit, I have more than a few times said my dream house is a stone cottage just far enough from town that I became the basis of a local legend about a witch that eats children who don't go to sleep at their bedtime

@wifwolf @Szescstopni I live across the road from where Juanita Miller lived, daughter of Joaquin. She was known to all the children of Oakland as The White Witch. She lived in a little house in the woods, and was eccentric and artistic.

When we were children we would call Juanita Miller on the phone and pretend we were older so we could have The White Witch give us advice on our love life, that we invented. Joaquin Miller's daughter titled herself the 'White Witch' and had involved her groom in a pagan ritual when they got married.…

@Szescstopni Eh, could be a decent house somewhere hot too. My mom's moved to south Crete and it's definitely better there now than here (Berlin), but still dips far too much below my feel-good temperature range of 25-35°C.

Florida would be hotter than that but that's still better than the -10°C I get here. Also, the small house should be able to house multiple partners, ideally. Maybe not so small than?

It sounds like you are very aware of the problem. I just want people to consider fire when they choose a place to live. Here in the Pacific Northwest US the situation is quite bad and getting worse.

@rayotron Yes, it's quite bad out there. You need a lot of land to build decent firebreaks around the house.
