                      on a more serious note maybe https://0x0.st or https://catbox.moe? it is ridiculous that one needs to get The Internet involved but I find that's the easiest way 99% of the time. alternatively python -m http.server if you're on the same LAN

                                    @aleteoryx@labyrinth.zone the file has gotten on to the smartphone. now we are trying to figure out how to extract a normal fucking archivee on a smart phone. it is not going well

                                    @0x6e6174 @aleteoryx I guess .zip might have been the better choice, it's the more compatible format

                                    (as far as I know, Windows can't deal with .tar.gz either, without using third party software, unless they recently added that functionality)

                                        >it opens the ebooks app?
                                        >phone sends a notification asking to be restarted

                                        how the hell do you extract a .tar.gz on a smartphone
