You havent read GrapheneOS bashing anyone. Its far easier to make an incorrect claim with the intent to harm than it is to refute it with evidence. Refuting with accurate info inherently needs more words. You have not seen any bashing from GOS, you made that up.
They are victims. Victims of actual crimes and abuse. Many android OSs are massive steps backward and end up hurting the ecosystem. Users are allowed to pick what they want and GrapheneOS never once said they couldnt, but that does not mean users should make uneducated decisions due to scammers taking advantage of them. You are pushing for scams and ignorance.

Providing users with privacy requires ongoing work to address privacy vulnerabilities. GrapheneOS keeps up with the standard Android privacy patches. We also fix many Android privacy issues ourselves including VPN leaks. We're actively working on fixing remaining VPN issues.
Privacy heavily depends on security. Security vulnerabilities are widely exploited to obtain user data. State actors aren't the only ones exploiting vulnerabilities and it's not at all limited to targeted attacks. Privacy depends on fixing both privacy and security flaws.

Commercially developed exploits are widely deployed against users both online and in the physical world. Broadly using exploits against many people at a protest, crossing a border or visiting a high traffic website is not a small scale targeted attack. This is not going away.

/e/ and Murena have been been promoting their products by misleading people about GrapheneOS for years. This has turned into an all out war on GrapheneOS by their company and supporters. We began regularly debunking their inaccurate claims and they try to frame it as aggression.
@GrapheneOS I never have been confronted with any of such content. I am not denying or doubting the existence, just sharing the experience I had.
I have once given /e/OS a try in hope, it would be an open-source mobile operating system alternative with high privacy/security means while being compatible with a more-than-average "sustainable" Fairphone (well, is there any truly sustainable phone?).
What drove me away, was the odd built-in VPN and the privacy tracker. In fact, I found the privacy specification with Facebook Lite already then odd.

As for me, I chose to degoogle my life BUT to a certain extent only. I will not get rid of my Chromecast, neither of my unlimited Google Photos. I know there may be better choices, but these are mine. My LineageOS-based ROM is cool for me. Your ROM may be a better choice, but STOP criticising other ones. This is COUNTERPRODUCTIVE.You say that like GOS forces you to degoogle completely, they dont. GOS has a wider range of using google than other OSs do.
GOS never said you werent allowed to mke choices, you completely missed the point. GOS is saying they are being attacked and harmed by other projects.

Second, GOS is pointing out actual crimes. This isnt criticism, its defense. You are telling a victim to disregard abuse. I cannot fathom how you read all of this and decided GOS was the problem. You seriously need to rethink your choices.

/e/ and Murena have repeatedly repeated attacks by authoritarians on privacy technology by claiming without basis that GrapheneOS is mainly useful to criminals and used by criminals. They're claiming it about hardening against vulnerabilities in general:

@raisondetredev We've posted multiple recent threads directly linking to the content. They're heavily engaging in it right now. This thread we've posted is in direct response to escalating attacks from /e/, Murena and their supporters aiming to misrepresent the purpose of GrapheneOS and what ir provides. They also consistently twist us addressing it to correct the misconceptions into us being the aggressors despite them doing it for years prior to us regularly responding and still doing it.

/e/ and Murena are based in France. Recently, France's national law enforcement has been smearing GrapheneOS, Signal and other privacy projects. They've heavily pushed the same false narrative as /e/ and Murena claiming GrapheneOS primarily benefits and is used by criminals.

Both state and corporate media in France repeated inaccurate claims from their nationa law enforcement without questioning it. They presented false claims about the features, distribution, marketing and userbase. They conflated it with sketchy products which aren't GrapheneOS.

/e/OS is a significant step backward compared to AOSP and even LineageOS; it's not an improvement.

Being aware of scams helps you make smarter choices. Freedom of choice should not be an excuse for remaining unaware of the pitfalls.

Podcast Projets Libres heavily promotes /e/ and Murena. They've consistently misrepresented the GrapheneOS project to promote those. Our corrections have consistently been ignored. They recently published an episode heavily pushing many of these false narratives about GrapheneOS.
