This Afroman trial is giving me life.

Cops raided Afroman's house for no reason. They pointed guns at him and his kids, ransacked his house, and tried to disconnect his home security cameras. They didn't disconnect them all, and so were allegedly caught on camera stealing his money.

He then made a series of music videos using footage from his security camerasz and body cam footage. Now the cops are suing him for making the videos. The ACLU is defending him.

@mekkaokereke it's absolutely clear that this behaviour is habitual for them. Routine. They assume that they can steal stuff here because they've done it time and time again, but this time they fucked up and got caught on camera. The question isn't, where else have they done this, it's where *haven't* they.

OMG it’s an eloquent Black man explaining consequences. Who knew that was possible except every non-racist.

That man is a hero. Thank you for sharing that with us.

@katrinakatrinka @mekkaokereke The whole way he handles the injustice he had to live through is a level of petty and at the same time being a rather good sport one can only admire.

He acknowledges the humanity of the people who didn't see him and his family as human and reminds the lawyer of that fact.

@mekkaokereke Afroman is great. But it's depressing this suit wasn't thrown out.

Edit: Afroman won! (Cheering noises) At least the jury did the right thing.

@mekkaokereke I'm not saying Afroman is wrong. I'm just saying that it's really weird that they let him answer his own questions.

And I'm not sure 'they came to my house first' is a defense the law is going to hold. A jury, OTOH, might as well. Meanwhile, IANAL and all my US law knowledge is from TV šŸ˜›

@mekkaokereke Just wow. Those people terrorized children, pointed guns at them, and are now crying because their kids had to deal with the fact that their parents are corrupt cops who point guns at kids? Unbelievable.

After that, HE was supposed to feel bad that the cops were upset.

@RnDanger I was thinking about Lemon Pound Cake. If he were an introspective type, he might ponder how he refers to Black people and how that might affect THEM. As for the woman crying, well, it's an opportunity for her to consider how she performs her job and the respect she shows to the people she encounters in that capacity. With regards to her kid(s), she and the kid should go into therapy to discuss how they should handle things, not letting the kid stew in her mess. @mekkaokereke

One of the cops that is suing Afroman, because other cops now make fun of him, and call him "lemon pound cake":

@mekkaokereke I gotta admit I was not ready for how on point Afroman was. That's not someone you wanna argue with, let alone be _wrong_ when you are!

@RnDanger The video I posted elsewhere in this thread is very good at showing what the actual charges are and the guy goes through parts of the music video to highlight possible problem areas. He's both laughing and fascinated about how the 1A will balance with the cop's right to privacy. With regards to the actual security footage, he's clear on the cops having no expectation of privacy while doing their jobs. @mekkaokereke
