@mekkaokereke Is there a Dem out there that Black men would vote for?

    @jennifersmith

Yes! Lots! Black voters are surprisingly forgiving/ optimistic! Eg: Harris. AOC. Ossoff.

Ossoff is closer to the 2028 presidency than Buttigieg.

He speaks with similar clarity, but adds an understanding of racial issues in the US, and a genuine empathy for Black people that cannot be faked. He doesn't just show up to the closest Black church a few weeks before the election.

The best that Dem presidential candidates with anti-Black track records can do, is win the Dem primary... and then lose in the general.

Then write silly and incorrect articles about how "Black men are moving towards Trump!🤡"

Dems complete this whole arc without ever having had one real conversation with any of the Black men voters that noped out.🤦🏿‍♂️

After all this, Buttigieg was polling at an impressive 0% with Black voters. Zero.

The press speculated that Black voters might not like Buttigieg because he is gay, essentially accusing all Black voters of homophobia (even the gay ones).🤦🏿‍♂️

        Buttigieg leaned into this trope.

I consider myself to be someone who follows US political news, yet I never heard about this in the 2020 primary. This thing with the tapes alone should disqualify the guy from consideration. I considered voting for him in that primary, but the whole thing was over by the time my chance to vote (not-so-Super-Tuesday). Now I'll never vote for him.

Becerra can probably win California without the Black vote. There aren't that many Black people in California. 🇫🇷Paris has more Black citizens per capita than California. Seriously! Look it up.🤷🏿‍♂️

Talarico might still win Texas even after what Dems did to Crockett. Hispanic self-preservation vote.🤷🏿‍♂️

But Buttigieg can't win the presidency. Neither can Rahm Emmanuel.

You can run as many polls or buy as much press as you want. Doesn't matter.

          It's not going to happen.

All the fascists run to the GOP side of the see-saw. You need all the Black voters, specifically all the Black men, to counterbalance that.

And we're not going to do that for these dudes.🤷🏿‍♂️

I didn't know that about Buttigieg, thank you for your ongoing education work.

The fact that dems are pushing Newsom is disgusting.

I hate Rahm Immanuel and just seeing his name is enough to upset me. He doesn't care about basic human rights as far as I can tell.

It is so obvious that democratic leadership wants to be seen as the good guys without doing the work of power sharing with the governed instead of the fascists.

Way back when, mayor Pete's reform-minded chief of police, Daryl Boykins, recorded some of his officers making vile racist statements. So Buttigieg fired... the police chief.🤡

Boykins was the 1st Black police chief in city history, and was building trust with Black folk.

                But it gets worse...

There were allegations that Buttigieg donors were on the tapes that the police chief recorded, plotting with the officers on how to get rid of all the Black people in city leadership.

The Black community wanted to know if this was true. Buttigieg refused to release the tapes.

                  But it gets worse...

@mekkaokereke I'm impressed that historically Black churches have moved from being among the least accepting of homosexuality in 2007 to being among the most accepting in 2023.

It seems possible that the US media is still rooted in outdated data. That isn't excusable.

@mekkaokereke ugh, there’s something uniquely terrible about white gay men, especially ones that can code switch or mask when needed, because they don’t have to live with their marginalized identities AND they don’t have to be around other marginalized people. At least my husband gets a front row seat to what it’s like for me being a woman in tech these days.

Every single one of these dudes that wants to run for President needs to pick a state and run for Governor there first. If you haven't shown you can win a statewide election, and preferably demonstrate some executive experience.

Pete lives in Michigan now. There's a whole lot of races there he could be in but he isn't. We need way more decent state level officials than we need wannabe POTUS Superheroes.

Yes!

What do you think of Pritzker? He hasn't made it to my shit list yet.

I say Newsom will never win because he's too ready to throw the vulnerable under the bus. I'll never vote for him; he wants me dead two ways. Autistic/ disabled and I was homeless. Plus, he tried kissing trumpie's ass before going on the attack.

I think it's very similar to what's going on with conservative white women.

Because they've experienced sometimes violent discrimination, they regard themselves as victims and claim a degree of innocence by definition.

The buck stops there, with no analysis of their own privilege or how they treat people they share common struggle with.

It's way safer to punch down or across.
