soo, essentially, they need the AI to remove the bad UI and turn it back into readable plaintext, because people trust the machines more than the devs/laws about accessibility?

@prism @WeirdWriter Honestly all oopinions aside I find it rather amusing that a so-called accessibility advocate signed off on an infographic without alt text. ALso, their understanding of screen readers appears to be fundamentally flawed. I'll cover this one on stream in half an hour 🙂

@zersiax @WeirdWriter And he's not an accessibility advocate, he knows nothing about it. He is a "human interface consultant," which is a fancy way of saying substack blogger. Totally different gig.

@prism @WeirdWriter all the better to push back. He apparently thinks he's hot shit, because he's been in the bizz for 30 years and can do no wrong, but He's not the first of his kind I've filetted and in this case, bad press is not good press

@prism @zersiax There is also that guy that created the overlay fact sheet that also proudly published a blog post where he said all AI is the best thing for accessibility and everybody should embrace AI and I’m just so tired now. I can’t remember his name, but it’s really easy to find. He’s the guy that created the overlay fact sheet

@WeirdWriter I'm working with ancient heretical scripture at the moment and it's rather impressive what even tiny free local models can manage.

I have scripture speaking in tongues on a raspberry pi, whilst the content of the scripture is about the miracle of speaking in tongues.

I don't think you need to be blind to appreciate having a consistent workflow/interface, grep on steroids & translations aids.

Don't be sad that technology over 100yrs in development gave a blind person hope.

@WeirdWriter I didn't know Jakob Nielsen was an AI booster now. Fun.

I guess we should find the point at which it is no longer worth reading his stuff, or should all of it just be rejected?
