@mina More than 5 hours in one piece is privilege. Every emergency vehicle wakes me up, and there is a fire and emergency station literally around the corner.

    @atarifrosch

    Yeah. Sirens are bloody loud!

I once lived right besides a railway line. In the beginning, I woke up when the cargo trains passed at night, but after a while, I got used to them.

Whether I could get used to sirens: I don't know.

They tend to sleep a lot, but hardly more than 4 hours in a row (at least, according to my experience).

Tonight, I woke up around half three, and it took me more than an hour to fall asleep again.

This is quite unusual for me.

What about your sleep - most of the time?

@Mina becoming older i tend to wake up once or twice during the night. i always wake from glaringly vivid dreams that have completely vanished as soon as i sit up in bed. to fall asleep again i turn on the radio with a timer and try to read a litte; or put on an audiobook. in particular the audiobook knocks me off in minutes. i blame my parents for this, always reading me bedtime stories as a child creating a kind of pavlovian reflex.

                            That's OK, I guess.

Waking up isn't so bad if you find your sleep again rather quickly.

@mina while I rarely wake up during the night without external reason (very light and sound sensitive) it takes me very long to fall asleep which sucks. At least half an hour and generally 45 minutes between settling into bed/lights out and falling asleep.

Listen to audiobooks that you have already listened to. Non-fiction is better for this. No need to reset to your timestamp. A mp3 player like LIsten Audiobook will let you quietly turn off at a specified point of time, but if you're still awake just shake the phone to listen to another x number of minutes.

Just discovered that there are bluetooth earbuds that will fit comfortably in your ear for sleeping (shorter battery time tho).

                                        Oh no!

My partner used to have this problem for years. It's no fun at all.

I have super tiny ear buds, just for the bed.

They don't have the power for busy streets, but you just don't feel them.
