There is something endlessly appealing to me about "secret emergency tools"
I have learned that a knife (a normal sized one) can be useful... but my many mini folding scissors which I put on everything have come in clutch far more often.
I always have scissors, most basic tools, small pliers and a knife. Because life is an adventure.
My wife got a pair of these scissors that look kind of like glasses when folded for her knitting bag and they're pretty cool:
I have this multitool on my keychain and was tightening the bolts on a high chair at a restaurant just a couple of hours ago:

@futurebird @gbargoud have you seen the swords hidden in a (walking) cane? Those are cool af and I always check thrift store canes to see if they unscrew and have magic inside.

4. Minimalist USB C emergency cable(Just wanted to share some of the odd things I've found recently. Teen me would have put those buttons on EVERYTHING ... you never know!)
@futurebird a keyring USB-C cable seems like it might get use turning a personal phone into a useful desktop environment (plugging it into a monitor like some dongle and relying on the monitor's built-in USB hub for keyboard and mouse input).

@catmisgivings @futurebird this is a wild tangent but I went to some rough schools, and I remember once in like sixth grade it was some kid’s birthday and they brought a cake. The substitute teacher wasn’t sure how to portion it out and he unthinkingly asked if anyone had a knife.
*click click click click click* around the room. The sub went very pale and quiet, and said he had to go do something else, and we could figure out the cake while he was gone.

Still think the button knife is kinda cool... but I would
1. cut myself
2. forget about it and get detained at the airport.@futurebird the number of much larger knives I've accidentally taken through multiple TSA checkpoints suggests otherwise. They're really not good at finding things.

@kevingranade @futurebird I accidentally took a scalpel through airport security for years. It fell to the bottom of my laptop bag and I didn't find it for at least five years.

@sunguramy @futurebird @gbargoud true story, shortened for brevity: I once thwarted a pair of gun wielding muggers with a sword cane! I didn’t fight them with it, and I didn’t even draw it on purpose. But it startled them so much that they started arguing with each other and that gave me the seconds I needed to run away very fast.

@futurebird I'm not sure but the fidget one looks like a meteor hammer with the cord in a sinnet for fast deployment
