We have:
1. Button Knife
2. Tiny 8GB drive
3. Fidget Spinner of Doom
4. Minimalist USB C emergency cable(Just wanted to share some of the odd things I've found recently. Teen me would have put those buttons on EVERYTHING ... you never know!)

@futurebird oh that's a meteor hammer. iirc, very very difficult to use effectively, and just as likely to injure an inexperienced user as their opponent.

Are they supposed to spin? That seems... extra.

@futurebird That button knife is really cool! I’d love to have those on my clothes.
And that “fidget spinner” looks like a weapon.

Still think the button knife is kinda cool... but I would
1. cut myself
2. forget about it and get detained at the airport. -

@futurebird The USB drive is likely intended more as a component than a freestanding item? Just insert it into a USB-sized metal shell attached to a cheap trinket, and boom, novelty flash drive. I've seen a whole bunch of those before. Oh, and the "micro flash drives" that barely stick out of the port, too. Just add a shell to this and you have one of those.

@futurebird you need two button knives so you use one to cut the other off your shirt

@futurebird also those repurposed bevel gears were probably originally pretty expensive

@futurebird i mean there's no reason they can't, it's just that when they're made as a weapon there's also no reason that they *should."

@PsyChuan @futurebird isn't that a flail?

@futurebird The first would be perfect for when you're dropped in the middle of the woods with nothing more than your business shirt.
Happens all the time.

@apLundell @futurebird the paracord grip isn't big enough and wouldn't be long enough. you can, however, unwind it.

@futurebird Of course you can bet that the guy who buys that button is already carrying at least one pocket knife and probably a hunting knife strapped to his leg.

When I was a kid, a teacher led us in an exercise about creativity or something and we were supposed to list ten new uses for various common objects like a ball or a button
Now, this was the 80s so cartoon violence was common. And you could get those gunpowder snap things down at the corner deli
I said you could put a little bit of explosive in the buttons and scatter them like mini-mines
Teech was frozen in panic

@futurebird My classmate Jarrett provided an acceptable answer when he suggested a cup for "sports protection"

@futurebird I was laughing and pounding the table at the fidget spinner meteor hammer though because I know EXACTLY the type of person who would own this thing

@catmisgivings @futurebird this is a wild tangent but I went to some rough schools, and I remember once in like sixth grade it was some kid’s birthday and they brought a cake. The substitute teacher wasn’t sure how to portion it out and he unthinkingly asked if anyone had a knife.
*click click click click click* around the room. The sub went very pale and quiet, and said he had to go do something else, and we could figure out the cake while he was gone.
