@rustbuckett @AAKL @itsfoss @Kdude That's a good point at the end. It used to be more work to invade someone's privacy. And like income, awareness hasn't caught up to modern times.

It's a touch less about apathy, and a touch more about being unable to comprehend how dangerous any given stance is.

I'm certainly not immune to it and I'm just another nobody online.

@Kdude @rustbuckett @AAKL @itsfoss and then of course there's the value proposition. As much as 90% of the mastodon audience might disagree. Some people do not care about _some_ security measures. Not even if you explained to them why.

Which of course loops back to the "it just needs to do it by default" crowd. But there's always gonna be some degree of give and take. /e

@Kdude @rustbuckett @AAKL @itsfoss a LOT of people go default. Think of all the normie husbands, wives, sister and brothers out there. Many of us grew up removing toolbars for a reason. For a lot of people they think the internet should just work and they shouldn't HAVE to try. So they assume it does.

It would be interesting to see how the test works with say uBlock installed. And see just how much work you have to add to them to get them to pass.

@AAKL @itsfoss That's interesting it's a minor minor minor point in the face of many of the other "fails" but I feel like I've been getting insecure website warning for a LONG time maybe a few years at least. I don't know how Firefox failed that.

@oay @itsfoss Zen is a FX fork that's designed to be minimalist and beautiful and "customizable" which in practice as far as I can tell means you can adjust your corner radius or something like that. I definitely suggest giving it a 48 hour testrun.

@itsfoss Firefox because the a) I don't like the Chrome monoculture which is everything else there

    Zen as backup.

Brave as third backup but every time I launch it, I'm asked to turn on the crypto ads that are default in everyone's favorite browser for whatever reason.

I wish Firefox could just stay the course. Their new CEO sounds like a compulsive moron who needs to be kicked in the crotch multiple times. But for now I'm still there.
