    @rustbuckett @AAKL @itsfoss Note that privacytests.org only tests the **default** browser settings (so, a clean installation.)

    - Which, nobody in the real world actually uses...

    @Kdude @rustbuckett @AAKL @itsfoss nah, the average user will use the default settings that came when the browser was first installed, unless the browser update itself changed the settings.

    Even in business IT there are enough people who go for install and forget.

        @itsfoss Brave. I love ♥️ it. I don't know why people say, "Helium is the browser that Brave should be."

        @danish_akhtar7 @itsfoss I used Brave for a while until they started advertising at me. IMHO, Ironwolf is the browser Brave should be.

          @itsfoss Chrome has no business being on this list. For many people, Firefox has also lost this privilege.

          @AAKL @itsfoss That's interesting it's a minor minor minor point in the face of many of the other "fails" but I feel like I've been getting insecure website warning for a LONG time maybe a few years at least. I don't know how Firefox failed that.

                  @itsfoss I see a lot of reference to Zen Browser. It looks great, I like the organization features, and it's FOSS. But what about plugins? There are a few plugins that I use that aren't directly related to making the browser behave that I use constantly. Proton Pass is a good example. It looks as if the plugin space is lacking so far, but the benefits may actually outweigh this shortcoming.

                      @Kdude @rustbuckett @AAKL @itsfoss a LOT of people go default. Think of all the normie husbands, wives, sister and brothers out there. Many of us grew up removing toolbars for a reason. For a lot of people they think the internet should just work and they shouldn't HAVE to try. So they assume it does.

                      It would be interesting to see how the test works with say uBlock installed. And see just how much work you have to add to them to get them to pass.

                              Brave, but I'll switch to Helium once the flatpak gets released.

                              I need a chromium based browser because I need specific extensions that are only available on the Chrome store.

                                @Kdude @rustbuckett @AAKL @itsfoss and then of course there's the value proposition. As much as 90% of the mastodon audience might disagree. Some people do not care about _some_ security measures. Not even if you explained to them why.

                                Which of course loops back to the "it just needs to do it by default" crowd. But there's always gonna be some degree of give and take. /e

                                      @itsfoss 1) Firefox 2) Vivaldi
                                      FF was always the browser of my choice. For decades now. And will be, if only US will not brake or block it for EU(chances are so close to zero...). But I also like Vivaldi, so it will be backup plan...

                                        @wolfkin @Kdude @rustbuckett @itsfoss You'd be surprised how many people actually don't care if their data is pilfered through their favorite apps, for example. They'd rather continue using their apps. Privacy and security are learned. So raising awareness is important, but more so is what you said about having some guardrails embedded by default. You can be sure a lot of companies will never do that, though, since people are their commodities.
