Watched Joe Bob Briggs present Housebound on The Last Drive-In.Watched Joe Bob Briggs present Housebound on The Last Drive-In. Really fun movie. Closest thing to a “feel good” horror film I’ve seen. I have more thoughts, but I don’t want to spoil it. Check it out if you can!

Good morning!Good morning! I have nothing going on today except one 15-minute meeting, so now that meeting is going to take up all of my mental bandwidth for the day.

Welcome!Your research sounds really cool! I’m mostly familiar with Ancient Greece and Rome through their philosophy texts, but I’ve been wanting to learn more about ancient magic, especially Plato’s connection to it. Your blog looks like a great resource! I’ve already found some papers to add to my reading list!

Saw Zazie in the Metro with my mom for Mother’s Day.Saw Zazie in the Metro with my mom for Mother’s Day. Really fast-paced film! There’s so much going on in each scene, I think I’ll need to rewatch it and only pay attention to what’s happening in the background.

I really like how Mastodon handles quote-posts.I really like how Mastodon handles quote-posts. On Twitter, it seemed like people mostly used quotes to dunk on people. I think quoting can lend itself to that; you’re not talking to a person, you’re talking about them to your followers. Giving users power to choose which posts can get quoted by who is a great way to mitigate that.

Hello!@kirkmoodey thanks for the advice! I plan to post about stuff I’m reading and tech projects I’ve got on the go. But so far I like the slower pace on here.

Hello!Hello!
I'm Taylor and I'm a philosophy PhD student transitioning out of academia into who knows what. But I know if I stop reading and writing I get restless, so I want to continue doing that here and on my website.
In #philosophy, I'm into Continental philosophy, Post-Kantianism, history of philosophy, aesthetics, language/semiotics, and classical rhetoric.
I also enjoy #cinema (esp. art films, horror, old Hollywood) and music. I make syllabi of movies and albums to watch/listen through chronologically.
I have no professional background in tech, but my logic brain can pick up on tech stuff pretty quick. I like #Linux, #SelfHosting, #FrugalComputing, and probably more things I haven't discovered yet!
Looking to make friends with other people into #philosophy, #movies, or #tech
