It's so much harder to point to the supposed overreach or intrusion that the fash experienced. There was no media forcing veganism down their throat. There was no political movement focused on it, there were no influential politicians. It wasn't taught in schools, it wasn't in cartoons. There was absolutely no reason to blame vegans or vegetarians except that they didn't fit in, were annoying, and challenged the assumptions about what US culture should be. Kind of exposes their whole deal, they just worked harder to invent examples of their own victimization later.

Wondering again what the point of respecting institutions is. Are you trying to get into respect heaven? Supreme Court God blesses you for your faith.

whenever I see a news outlet say "they did not immediately respond to requests for comment" I focus on the immediately part and I picture the writer sending them an email and then instantly being like 'well no answer ' and clicking publish.

Slay the Spire 2 is getting review bombed right now because they credit Anita Sarkeesian as a consultant. Also some above-it-all takes like "they had a winning formula, why would they even need to consult?" Well I mean, look no further than Pragmata which had to go into damage control mode because no one noticed they might be attracting a pedophile audience when they introduce a little girl character by showing her feet. I haven't really followed Sarkeesian but from my understanding she made a bunch of pretty basic feminist arguments that amounted to 'do you really have to sexualize all the women characters?' and the internet lost their shit about it for the next fifteen years.

Yeah the supreme court is racist and corrupt. I'm finding it disappointing that the people who previously were institutionalists and told me 'let the court system work it out' now disagree with their ruling though. You can't trust the court system to solve things and then not accept their ruling. You have to admit the justice system is racist and therefore not trustworthy.

@thatkatharine@ohai.social I have become so aware of my nasal health recently and honestly it's great. I do neti pot, I do nasal spray, I use a humidifier, I wear a mask. I can actually breathe and it's so nice, I didn't know what I was missing.

vax n relax was when the anti-science right wingers and the professionalist libs merged. they joined forces to create a singular vibe of haughty denial, they found one thing they could agree on. as long as it still came in two flavors: vaccine-good and vaccine-bad. maintain the appearance of disagreement while the core belief of anti-masking and anti-maskers could be shared. it was extremely effective, whichever think tank came up with this was so clever. and now the professionalist smarties get to talk down to both the maskers (filling the slot of 'far-left' in the standard liberal mindset), and the ivermectiners (filling the tea party righties obviously).
