I don't know yet. It depends on the development and it don't have to be my decision. It's open source and anyone can pick up and fork. For now I'm pushing to show an example for a platform as I envision - while listening to others as well.

If it keeps being a me-projekt, I expect to continue using A.I. I simply do not have the skill to do this myself. I know a lot about platforms, protocols etc. Altso coding but not to the extended needed to do this.

For now i'm going all in in Claude Code - in a guerilla attempt to fight back big tech with there own tools. So far I must say i'm very impressed. And scared. Claude Code is a atombomb ready to blow up the tech world as we know it. I don't like it - but try to come up top.

It's been a fun weekend building a new working fediverse applikation.

The tech stack so far..

Backend: Go — fast, simple, great concurrency. No magic, just code.

Frontend: SvelteKit — feels like writing HTML that actually works. SSR out of the box.

Database: PostgreSQL — boring in the best possible way.

Queue: Asynq + Redis — async ActivityPub delivery with retry logic. Workers run separately from the API.

Federation: ActivityPub — HTTP signatures, shared inbox, fan-out delivery for groups and followers.

Infra: Docker Compose — one file per instance, easy to spin up new nodes.

Everything self-hostable. No cloud dependencies. No vendor lock-in.

Still early days — but the foundation feels solid.

And yes - A lot of help fra Claude code. I decided to go all in an use big tech to fight big tech.

Groups use the FEP-1b12 pattern — Group actors, Follow to join, Create to post, Announce to fan-out — but with one current limitation: group federation is Fedibook-to-Fedibook only for now. Non-Fedibook
instances get a Reject on Follow.

It's a pragmatic shortcut to get something working for now. Full cross-platform group support (Mastodon, Lemmy, etc.) is the goal if it proves feasible.

Meet Fedibook!

The idea came from thinking about what it actually takes to get regular users onto the fediverse. Mastodon is great (i love it), but the follow-based model feels unfamiliar to some. Friends and Groups though — that's something everyone already understands.

So Fedibook is a fediverse platform built around exactly that, using ActivityPub. Think federated address book meets social network, with the kind of social graph people are already used to.

Current status:

- Friend requests across servers working
- News feed working, with visibility levels: public, friends-only, or local server only

Hoping to open up for early testing and feedback soon. Open source of course.

@jonassmith Hej Jonas. At være tilgængelig på et medie, uden om bigtech er en RIGTIG gode ide. Mastodon ligger lige til.

Det gode ved Mastodon og fediverset i øvrigt er at det ikke er en lukket klub. Det kan jo sagtens sættes op så man kan se heres Mastodon indhold direkte på en (jeres) hjemmeside ude selv at være bruger.

Det er også andre måder end en konto på en almindelig mastodon server.

En Wordpress blog med ActivityPub plugin kunne være en mulighed. Super let!

På den måde vil man både kunne følge en "lækker" SMK layoutet blog direkte OG få jeres indput ind i sit daglige feed.

Jeg støtter stærkt op om at man kan finde en stor dansk kulturinstutition på en fri platform. Jeg vil glæde mig til at kigge med. Til video deling syes jeg i skal kikke på et peertube setup.

Hvis du har brug for sparing eller hjælp til at etablerer et pilots-setup, må du endelig række ud.

Hvordan får vi digital suverænitet ind i valgkampen? Hvor skal jeg stemme for få Microsoft ud af folkeskolen? Eller få offentlige applikationer på europæisk ejet og kontrolleret infrastruktur. Hvem er klar til at forbyde X.

Hvem er klar til at investere og lovgive om open source. Min stemme går til et #opensourcefirst parti der tør investere i vores fremtidige uafhængighed. Afhængighed af amerikansk IT er ikke anderledes end afhængighed af Amerikansk militær. Vi må opruste.
