It’s just that TFG wants to expand it and build an ego-massaging gilded ballroom, too. The original bunker could have always been updated without demolishing the East Wing & certainly, without building an over-sized & unnecessary ballroom.

I’m just saying, let them experience authoritarian oligarchy, à la Russia, for instance, and let them find out how much they like it.

@heidilifeldman I think of them as a throwback to the loyalist tories who were against the revolution to separate from Great Britain. There have always been “monarchist-“ & authoritarianism-loving people in our country. They don’t believe in the basic principles of our constitution & bill of rights. Ironically, they benefit from those very same principles which they deride. If they don’t like the idea of representative self-government, then they can emigrate to Hungary.
