  • Have you ever in your life used "Click to Pay"(an EMV developed solution) that is a bit like ApplePay/GooglePay for paying on websites but offered directly by Visa, MasterCard and Amex?

I guess in the long run it does not matter. I am kinda hoping that EPI and EuroPA pull off their plan to basically steal the market from Visa/MasterCard/Amex then I can just use Vipps everywhere (or Wero) and none of my data has to be handed over to US companies.

Plus there is the added bonus that Dictator Trump cannot use American companies (Visa, MasterCard and Amex) to inflict more pain on Europeans.

Plus it is the back end providers running this rather than yet another intermediary but again, while interesting on paper, it doesn't do much if no sites offer it. 🤷

Here is a MasterCard page about it, Visa and Amex also support it since it is an EMV developed solution, which they are all connected to. It's interesting in some ways as it is a tokenised solution so the sites never get your real details and makes it easier as you should not have to fill out details (much like Apple/Google Pay of Vipps).

A couple of different banks have encouraged me to register my cards with it in their banking apps and yet I have never actually seen it offered as a quick way to pay, AFAICT. And it has existed for a while. Seems like a total failure from my perspective.

Many sites offer Google/Apple pay or are behind a provider that stores details between sites, like Stripe or PayPal. In Norway you also get a lot of Vipps (a Nordic payment wallet) or you just have to enter details manually. Click To Pay… never
