  • Can anyone tell me what kind of bear this is?
    ra6bit@infosec.exchangeR ra6bit@infosec.exchange

@cR0w Without a higher res picture to maybe see the ears, it's very strongly in favor of a blonde black bear rather than a brown bear. It's butt is higher than it's front shoulders and there's no hump.

@xabean You know what's weird? I've never ridden in a hybrid or an electric car. I don't know anyone who owns one that I would also be in their car.

  • it has been 0 days since I encountered something that was licensed "feel free to use this in your projects, please just credit me by name!" and they forgot to actually state their name anywhere in the readme or the code.

@0xabad1dea I have genuinely released things under a random pseudonym and MIT licensing just to avoid having to figure out what my name was.

@Lizette603_23 I never used my assigned-at-birth name pretty much ever, in my life. Very early on most people started calling me Rabbit or an initialism because I wouldn't use my "real" name.

I eventually figured out what was up..

@Lizette603_23 I keep thinking about this toot and how absolutely powerful it would be if she kept the name Mike. I think I'd be intimidated.

  • I wonder if Claude or ChatGPT or Gemini have hard coded timeouts of any sort.
    ra6bit@infosec.exchangeR ra6bit@infosec.exchange

I wonder if Claude or ChatGPT or Gemini have hard coded timeouts of any sort. I've come up with prompts that seem to just get them stuck doing searches and consuming tokens until I stop them. You just have to "convince" them to ignore timeouts and ask a question they can't answer or find an answer for.

I don't have the heart to leave them running to see if they stop on their own- it seems on "free" plans they stop when it hits the daily token limit- with an employer plan that will run the meter indefinitely I don't know if they stop.

Me in 2015: Heh, Situationist jokes with Loji are funny even if there's only about 3 people who even understand the bit.

Me in 2017: Huh. You know, Debord is kind of a nut but he had some prescient ideas about late stage capitalism and fetish commodities.

Me in 2024: Camus was right, the only way to authentically exist in our absurd existence is to actively engage with absurdity itself.

Me in 2026: Dadaism and détournement are the only ways to reject the oncoming machine automation of The Spectacle which uses the rational and predictable to rob modern civilization of its humanity and hijack our works to produce grey goo in the pursuit of extending late-stage capitalism. For post-slop existence to have meaning, we must not only embrace the absurd but actively pursue it as a science to foil the commodification of existence itself. The unpredictable subversion of expectations and the random nature of human creativity is the ultimate weapon against the homogenization of culture via machines which infinitely generate soul-less art substitutes for mass consumption via statistical analysis.
