@Lizette603_23 yes, when I was struggling with lymphoma, on chemo 24/7 for five days a time, nurse came into my room during a vitals check at 2am and told me she had been treated for two years for Hodgkins lymphoma (mine was non-H). She’d had the same chemo, pulled aside her shirt collar to show the scars from a port, said what finally saved her was a marrow transplant. “So I want to tell you, never give up hope!” She lifted my sprits and I didn’t. Wish I could find her now and thank her!

@Lizette603_23 I don’t even know her name, she wasn’t one of my nurses. She was on the floor and had read my chart. Tried to find out after I finished treatment but couldn’t. But sure an angel.

@GPJohnston your particular angel. I'm not a sky daddy believer, but sometimes people are so kind it breaks you and rebuilds you all at once. I'm so glad for you. And for her. She KNEW what she was giving you. She's been there.

@Lizette603_23 paying it forward. She said her experience had motivated her to become a nurse.

@GPJohnston I get the idea of paying forward. It's built in for me, to be honest. I see it as the thing we can all have in common.

@Lizette603_23 I keep thinking about this toot and how absolutely powerful it would be if she kept the name Mike. I think I'd be intimidated.

@ra6bit I remember she was fascinated by names, but pretty sure she changed hers. I hear your point.

@ra6bit in those days, though, it was even more dangerous

@Lizette603_23 I never used my assigned-at-birth name pretty much ever, in my life. Very early on most people started calling me Rabbit or an initialism because I wouldn't use my "real" name.

I eventually figured out what was up..
