why do people trust ai search summaries?why do people trust ai search summaries? theyre wrong SO MUCH?? the biggest value is digging up relevant sources that arent as SEOed but i still need to click those sources to make sure they actually match the summary. sometimes theyre not even about the same topic! is there any improving on this haha ?

i wish we had a non marketerspeak lexicon for talking about "ai".Ooh! APE! algorithmic pattern extension/extrapolation

Not in the article but the login for the breached account was in an infostealer dump, the engineer installed a Robolox mod his home PC.. which he also used for work.@GossiTheDog my brain is like very fried so im worried that question sounded ironically robotic but my brain is fried but im trying to make it soak something in

Not in the article but the login for the breached account was in an infostealer dump, the engineer installed a Robolox mod his home PC.. which he also used for work.@GossiTheDog are companies blaming ai for breaches to duck responsibility for security mistakes that were definitely made, like how theyre blaming layoffs on ai to try and present an optimistic spin to investors? how much of the impact of ai, would you say, is actually substantial, vs just... that

i wish we had a non marketerspeak lexicon for talking about "ai".i wish we had a non marketerspeak lexicon for talking about "ai". eg "apr" (abstracted pattern recognition/replication) instead of "ai". "anomaly/anomalize" instead of "hallucination/hallucinate", etc

we still have not gotten around to making any decision on this age verification nonsense@ariadne fwiw (and that shouldnt be much because idk shit) i kinda took it for granted that this is what linux in general would do as soon as these laws passed and im a little shocked no one has. and a little shocked by the degree to which lawmakers are insulated from the consequences of their own insanity/hubris in general

The thing about AI replacing analysts that I think is implicit to a lot of people who understand AI, but not at all clear to the people doing layoffs is this: adversaries use AI for automation and as a force multiplier too.@hacks4pancakes I even dug through my toots and couldnt find it but I definitely remember wondering how.. different this is for cybersecurity? Someone made a new automated scanner? cool! Why is this revolutionary? It doesnt change how you use tools: they give time, not skill. Yes even without skill you can spam a tool at something and have things happen but youre flying blind and the reason why it wasnt enough to be a script kiddie 10 years ago still apply even when your VERYYY expensive rube goldberg linear algebra doer works as a good scanner

Interesting: Almost Two-Thirds of Europeans Back Replacing US Tech, Poll Findshttps://www.techpolicy.press/almost-two-thirds-of-europeans-back-replacing-us-tech-poll-finds/ #Nextcloud@Karlitschek I just hope against hope the conversation manages "open source and interop over monopolistic hegemony" and doesnt drift into "non-american momopolistic hegemony over american monopolistic hegemony"
