Do people actually reads scientific journals? Like most practitioners tends to avoid them by the plague and fallback to reinventing the wheel for their specific cases, and researchers tends to mostly read papers that seems relevant but without real expectations of understanding all of their implications.Wouldn't it be more beneficial to publish scientific work in trade magazines, where you can actually write without the obscure writing styles and ACTUALLY be read by people that would care?

I think Type Theory for computer programs has been more disastrous than advantageous: a computer program's goal is to command (and not govern) a computer. The strict enforcement of type theory done by mapping structures to types has led to inefficient programs and corruption of programmers' minds. Type theory is possibly excellent for the writing of the specification when needing more than simple behaviour description, but no more.

Just watched Brodie's last video about Odin's "lack of popularity" in popular programming magazines and it left me wondering: do we even have reputable and decent magazines or sources about computer programming? Most of programmer's knowledges comes from fellow's blogs posted on HackerNews and some esoteric GitHub issues. No newsletter, even Reddit is dead... An I kind of like it that way, but should we do something about this?
