We understand that these services have been important sources of information for many Canadians. The technology used to operate Weatheradio and Hello Weather is obsolete, leading to increasing costs and challenges with maintaining the service. As a result, ECCC has made the decision to discontinue these services. As part of our modernization efforts, we are focusing on strengthening and expanding more viable services. Weather alerts continue to be issued through multiple channels, including weather.gc.ca, the WeatherCAN mobile application, Canadian television and radio broadcasters, and the National Public Alerting System (Alert Ready). Continual expansion of cellular service coverage and increasing availability of satellite internet are also improving access to timely weather information, including in remote areas. "
