I feel perpetually distracted. Had some free time this morning. Meant to work on taxes, but ended up just prepping by scanning my W-2, then doing a little decluttering. Went to my HSA provider's web site with the intention of downloading tax forms in case I needed them. Discovered that the 2FA isn't enough anymore--I need a passkey, and I could download the app using the QR code on my computer's screen. Decided it was time to finally try to learn how to scan QR codes. Added the code scanner to my control panel but had no luck scanning the code off my screen. I'm probably just inept. Downloaded it from the app store instead and set up my passkey. It isn't clear now if it's possible to log in from my computer, or if I have to use my phone. Going to a meetup later to geek out on investing stuff, then maybe dinner with some people from the meetup, then visiting a friend I think. At some point, I need to look at a sample ballot for my long primary and figure out who I'm voting for. At some point, I need to finish this brltty update for Tumbleweed. Anyway, so much for getting my taxes done this morning.

I just saw an ad for Claude Code like this: "You didn't learn to code for maintenance mode.I just saw an ad for Claude Code like this: "You didn't learn to code for maintenance mode. Claude Code handles the grind so you can focus on architecture and features."
I specifically remember being told, in a class, that maintenance usually takes up around 2/3 of a product's lifecycle.

Well, I'm no Windows expert, but I couldn't figure out why my Windows wouldn't boot anymoreWell, I'm no Windows expert, but I couldn't figure out why my Windows wouldn't boot anymore.
I couldn't find the log file that supposedly existed to maybe tell me what was wrong.
Tried running chkdsk.
Tried running SFC /Scannow. It did tell me that it found some corrupted files, but I got the same error after I rebooted.
Tried bootrec /fixboot and bootrec /rebuildbcd.Now I'm glad that I took that image of my drive before I started. Going to attempt to reverse the process, then try reinstalling and let the installer handle shrinking the partition, rather than manually doing it myself, and see if that works any better, but I'm not super-optimistic.

I'm doing an install using the new openSUSE/SLE installerI'm doing an install using the new openSUSE/SLE installer.
I'm selecting the software that I want to install.
Right now, when I have a certain item selected, both Orca and NVDA read "Unselect GNOME environment (Wayland) check box checked"The web page is trying to tell me that clicking the item would unselect GNOME, but, to me, it is confusing and makes it sound like there is a checked checkbox that is causing GNOME to be unselected.
The web page has this:
<span id="gnome-next-action" class="pf-v6-u-hidden">Unselect</span>The class makes it look like the text within the span is probably hidden and not displayed, so I wonder why the span is there at all. There might be an obvious answer, but I'm no web developer.
Of course, the installer's source is out there on github, and I even have it checked out, so, in theory, I could do some more digging and maybe find some more clues.

This afternoon I partook of a webinar produced by #NFB on the subject of the product 1Password.@Thumper1964 People are still using a DecTalk for stuff? Of course, I probably shouldn't talk, given the synth I'm using at the moment. And I don't see myself trying something like 1Password, but then what I'm doing isn't really something that I'd recommend for most people.

If I can avoid having to pull out my phone and open Google Authenticator whenever I have to log in somewhere and generate an OTP, then I'll be happy.
But I didn't write down any of my keys, and trying to figure out how to get them from my Google account seems like it would be more trouble than it's worth, so I think I'd need to generate new keys for the various sites where I need them. -
I've decided that I'm going to transfer my domain.I've decided that I'm going to transfer my domain. I opened a ticket with my provider a week ago, initially because their control panel listed my domain as expiring on January 1, 1970, and I could not renew automatically. I sent a follow-up email a few hours ago and asked for an auth code. Now I just need to decide how much longer I'll wait for them to respond before I file a complaint with Tucows.

I see "PDA" in someone's handle, and I wonder what it meansI see "PDA" in someone's handle, and I wonder what it means.
Personal data assistant? Probably not; it isn't 2005 anymore, after all.
Progressive Democrats of America? Probably not that either.
Pathological demand avoidance? Probably not.
Public displays of affection? Maybe.
Or something else? -
Does anyone have suggestions for accessible services for managing a domain?Does anyone have suggestions for accessible services for managing a domain? I have mine registered through Bright Side Networks, but I"m having issues renewing it, just like the time before and the time before that (their control panel is listing my domain as expired, with no option to renew, although they sent me an email reminding me to renew. I opened a ticket on Monday and no response yet.) So I would like to try to transfer it somewhere else.

Question to #blind #linux users: I'm stuck using my #RaspberryPi500 as my computer for a bit because my PC quit working.@RareBird15 @pvagner I'm using toot, but the way I'm using it isn't necessarily ideal, and I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for (it's a CLI client). https://github.com:ihabunek/toot.git

And now I want to go grab my Braille display and plug it in so that I can test the new version of brltty on Tumbleweed, and it's reminding me of my lack of outlets, and I'm getting annoyed. So I just ordered a new strip that not only has eight wide outlets but also has USB charging ports! I'm sure I'm late to the party, but I had no idea that these things existed! I'm really looking forward to having this thing!

Incidentally, I just got a text from a number I didn't recognize asking, "what are you doing?" as I was typing up a Mastodon post explaining what I've been doing.@baxaphobia I'm not answering it--I think I've figured out that these kinds of texts are usually scams of some kind--but, yeah, it was weird. Maybe the person needs to follow me here. Lol. Of course, sometimes people follow me and I wish I knew who they were or why they're following me.

Oh hi It's another day.Oh hi It's another day. I check my work email this morning, and we have 11 new bugs open for FreeRDP CVEs and two new bugs for Gimp CVEs. It isn't clear to me if I'm going to work on them or if someone in Beijing is going to work on them, but someone needs to work on them. Meanwhile, I'm trying to squeeze some API changes into at-spi2-core, and I'm already past the freeze, so I'll need to request a freeze break, so trying to get that done and feeling I'm neglecting the day job stuff that I should be working on. Oh, and apparently there's a crash that I need to look at, too. Yay me.
