@sgharms don't buy books from Amazon. Their DRM is hard to remove. You can buy books from Kobo or other retailers like ebooks.com. Some don't use DRM but Adobe DRM can be removed. Once you have an epub book without DRM you can put it on any eReader with calibre.

How to setup Calibre to remove DRM from ebooks on Linux

I'm writing this little guide as a note to myself on how to setup Calibre to make backup copies of the ebooks I purchase on my Linux system.

πŸ”— I Feel So Sorry for My A.I. Sunglasses - The New York Times

I love the idea of Augmented Reality glasses. I think having a digital layer of information, laid over the real world via glasses is a super cool idea. I've not really read anything about these glasses yet so I'm not sure exactly the feature set on these.
I hate that it's companies like Meta that are leading in this space because they'll not do it right. They'll view it as a means to extract information about the wearer so they can sell it in pursuit of profits.

  • Am I the only sports fan on Masto now?
    michaelharley@infosec.exchangeM michaelharley@infosec.exchange

@j to follow up on this, I think one problem with following sports here is there are many unoffical bots/mirrors. Like for Ian Rapport, he's not actually here. The accounts you find here for him are unoffical bots that syndicate his twitter or where ever he posts from. That feels weird to me.

@j I like and enjoy some sports. Titans football and F1 mostly. I don't follow any college sports. I've tried hockey but eh. I'm interested in baseball but I've never lived anywhere that had a team.

I like foosball too does that count 😬

Y'all, I'm running #PopOS on an old 13 inch MacBook Pro. I'm really wanting to upgrade to something new and with a better keyboard but maybe I just replace the battery, repaste the CPU and blow the thing out with canned air and call it good for another 5 years? It feels a smidge slow but I think repasting and canned air will help with heat throttling.

Electric car owners may be feeling smug because they don't need to worry about soaring gasoline prices. And people with combustion engine cars may be wondering whether it's time to buy an electric vehicle.

πŸ”— What to Know About Electric Cars When Gas Prices Are Surging - The New York Times

Ha ha oh give me a break. "the gas-price roller coaster"??? What about the electric-price roller coaster? Here in Richmond, I have heard much complaining about Dominion pricing during the winter.
