#Virginia has joined an interstate pact to circumvent America's notoriously undemocratic Electoral College.
These states will award the victory to the winners of the popular vote, not of the electoral colleges.
The compact doesn't go into effect, though, until there are enough states signed up to reach the required 270 electoral votes to elect a president.
A reminder that, without the Electoral College that gives disproportionate weight to the votes of rural Red States, and without more than a century of aggressive gerrymandering, the US would have probably seen very fee Republican presidents in the past 100 years.
