@ikuturso @HarmBotjes @EUCommission Meanwhile politicians and media taking money to promote Israel and its genocide on Gaza is also sanctioned by the EU, but in the opposite meaning of the word. Freedom of speech, freedom of the press, but only for opinions we like. https://ec.social-network.europa.eu/@EUCommission/116509371063854487

Let the truth be told, let the press be free.@ikuturso @HarmBotjes @EUCommission Hard to tell as I've seen no proof and he hasn't been allowed to get his case tried in court. RT is not prohibited in Norway. We hold free speech and freedom of the press in high regard.

Let the truth be told, let the press be free.@ikuturso @HarmBotjes @EUCommission The only thing obvious to me is that he and his family is being severely punished without due process due to his writing! Which makes this screaming hypocrisy:

Let the truth be told, let the press be free.@HarmBotjes @ikuturso @EUCommission Free press or political sensorship and persecution?

Let the truth be told, let the press be free.@HarmBotjes @ikuturso @EUCommission
We know that the Zionist genocidal government of Germany persecutes people protesting the genocide. Hüseyin Doğru has been writing about that. We know that the President of the European Commission is Ursula Gertrud von der Leyen (born 1958) a staunch Zionist in support of the Israeli genocide in Gaza . -
Let the truth be told, let the press be free.@ikuturso @EUCommission The principle is universal. Newspeak doesn't change that. If the government is punishing you they have to have a legal basis. And punishment by principle should only be applied when you after due legal process have been proven guilty. You support the individual punishment of a journalist AND his family without due process. That's abhorrent!
-
Let the truth be told, let the press be free.@HarmBotjes @ikuturso @EUCommission I definitely understand the concept of punishment without due process. I just don't approve of it.
-
Let the truth be told, let the press be free.@ikuturso @EUCommission You are innocent until proven guilty. Sanctions are punishment, ECHR 6 (2). If you don't understand that this principal is there to safeguard us all at all times under all circumstances you're open for tyranny. Either you've been proven guilty or you're innocent. Sanctions are punishment. Punishments are for those proven guilty. Attacks on free speech and freedom of the press are not to be accepted but to be protested whether they come from Germany, the EU or the U.S.!
-
Let the truth be told, let the press be free.@ikuturso @EUCommission The sanctions are aimed at individuals. Either you think it is in principle okay that states and supranational organizations such as the EU can adopt and implement sanctions against individuals without prior legal process, or you don't. Basic legal principles such as "you are innocent until proven guilty" are not something you use only when it suits you.
-
Let the truth be told, let the press be free.@ikuturso @EUCommission The U.S. sanctions these individuals for the work they do. They also sanction Francesca Albanese. No legal proceedings, just accusations and punishment. An important part of the accusations against Hüseyin Doğru come from Germany for anti-Israel activities. So not very different at all. Both states have eagerly supported the Zionist genocide on the Palestinians and persecuted opponents to the same. We must protest these violations against legal principles and free speech!
-
Let the truth be told, let the press be free.@ikuturso @EUCommission Either you believe in the basic legal principle that everyone's innocent until proven guilty, or you don't. Has he been tried and found guilty of committing a crime, or not? What follows that sort of legal understanding is also this: https://www.icc-cpi.int/news/icc-strongly-rejects-new-us-sanctions-against-judges-and-deputy-prosecutors
-
Let the truth be told, let the press be free.@ikuturso @EUCommission So, to avoid the annoying legal principle that you're innocent until proven guilty, we use sanctions because sanctions (blocking an individual and his family's existence) is not punishment. Sounds alarmingly antidemocratic to me.
-
Let the truth be told, let the press be free.@ikuturso @EUCommission No charges, no trial, no conviction, just punishment, seems entirely appropriate to you?
-
Let the truth be told, let the press be free.@EUCommission No charges. No trial. No conviction. Just punishment.
Free Hüseyin Doğru. End the EU Sanctions on Journalism. His bank accounts are frozen. He is banned from working.https://informationrights.org/take-action/free-huseyin-dogru
