@ploum @ravenbait @cstross @nathanael Yeah, one thing no one ever told me when I was young was that you had to be constantly hustling and networking.

This idea of constantly viewing other people as nothing more than useful tools for getting ahead ... I didn't get that ingrained in me.

Was I lucky? Was I unlucky? Had I been indoctrinated into hustle culture, maybe I'd be more prosperous right now. But as it is, I can only imagine living that way as miserable. To me, at least.

@CptSuperlative I think the big belief of the techbros is something like "long term-ism", where the most important (only important) thing is the continued existence of the homo sapiens species. This is more important than the suffering or survival of any actual human beings. Which OF COURSE, becomes, It is very important to make everyone else suffer and die, for the sake of long term-ism or whatever.

So, not only will they happily sacrifice other people for their own favorite idea, the NEED to.
