When I told people in 2024 that you can’t be antifascist if you’re more interested in abstract political ideals than harms against the most vulnerable - this is what I was talking about.

And I love abstract political ideas!
I used to teach them, ffs.
But they are not more important than people.
In fact, a great test for whether someone is a moral monster is if they happily sacrifice other people for their own favorite ideas.

... is a moral monster is if they happily sacrifice other people for their own favorite ideas.
it shouldn't be, but is, wild to me how many people fail this super basic test. In so many circumstances! And in so many ways! I keep having to say stuff like, "your {code project/philosophy/organization} is not important than people! If you place your project/idea above people, what is the point??" and yet they will continue to say things like, "the project/idea is too important to {do something that protects others}". -

There’s a fair bit of psychology and sociology on this that intersects with feminism.
Also, care ethics and virtue ethics honor this basic intuition, if you’re looking more.

@CptSuperlative I think the big belief of the techbros is something like "long term-ism", where the most important (only important) thing is the continued existence of the homo sapiens species. This is more important than the suffering or survival of any actual human beings. Which OF COURSE, becomes, It is very important to make everyone else suffer and die, for the sake of long term-ism or whatever.
So, not only will they happily sacrifice other people for their own favorite idea, the NEED to.

@CptSuperlative In their view, anyone who does anything to help people is an existential threat to the long term survival of the human species.
That's how twisted up they have become. It's why they're such big fans of randomly killing fishermen for no reason. It's for the long term survival of homo sapiens somehow.

Yep.
Also, “Effective Altruism”
The theoretical similarities and historical continuities between eugenics, slavery, colonialism, fascism, genocide, and Longtermism/Effective Altruism are so strong that we’re basically talking about one, unified perspective.
