Just avoid installing the Alacritty from App Center(snap), it will "ruin" your Home directory. And looks like Obsidian can do the same...
Just yesterday I've met this bug on two my laptops. Also similar issues could be found on Reddit.
Didn't saw it on launchpad yet, will add this bug report tomorrow.
It can be fixed manually, of course.

maybe "popular linux" is not our "good old linux" anymore...

@itsfoss For WYSIWYG experience you also can use LibreOffice Writer. As I remember, it allow you to export to .md file...
And where is Apostrophe app?)
@itsfoss But Obsidian isn't really "free" (as in "free speech") and it's not open source either.
Try Zettrl.
