@anneroth Where Ecosia is better than Startpage is that Ecosia is at least trying to build their own independent index while the latter is basically just a privacy-friendly frontend to Google's index.

If looking for primary alternatives to Ecosia I'd rather suggest Mojeek or maybe Good Search.
