@ProPublica I really do think that penalties in abuse and misconduct cases should hit the individuals, probably in the form of pension reductions, but that has to be reasonably fair. In this kind of case, I think "fair" means that a pension can't be reduced below what would be earned by someone making minimum wage for the same number of hours worked - and if it's federal where they're protected by the FTCA as well perhaps the federal minimum wage should be used instead of any state or local ones.

@kirenida @GossiTheDog if the drive is still in the dead system you'd be better off trying to get it to a point where it'll boot to the point of the TPM being read.

@jerry it's not entirely out of line to simply "assume compromise" for any software (or the hardware it controls, Palo Alto) but it is indeed a deep hole. AI tools may actually make problems in open source "shallow" in ways not visible or verifiable in closed systems - and while the open source projects may not be able to buy expensive tooling people looking for things to brag about may spend their own money on those tools anyway.
