I probably won't brave the crowds at the University of Washington quadrangle to see their cherry trees this year, but I don't really need to. There's plenty to see in my neighborhood.

My folks are drying out some doug-fir lumber that they sawed up on their small-scale mill (all from trees sustainably thinned out from a crowded forest).@adam Wow. Very tidy milling job. So they do this for a living?

Public art installation seen on today's bike ride.@wanderinghermit The sense of motion is really fantastic. I wonder if work like this could even have been conceived in the era before digital special effects became common in film. Like certain paintings were only possible after the advent of motion pictures, this feels like a digital motion graphic made physical. On a practical level I'm trying to imagine how it got fabricated and installed. The welds (I'm assuming it's welded) are very expertly hidden, at least in the photo.

#mountainmonday from 2024. Mt Daniel from the top of nearby Granite mountain.@intrepidhero Great photo. How did you access Granite Mountain? Did you get there from the Tucquala Meadows trailhead?
