Physics-based weather models more accurate than AI at predicting extreme weather
Weather forecasting is another aspect of modern life that artificial intelligence is transforming. Models like GraphCast, Pangu-Weather, and Fuxi are already better than traditional physics-based climate models at predicting some daily weather conditions. However, they are far from perfect. A new study published in the journal Science Advances reports that AI often fails to predict record-breaking extreme weather events.

Building new fossil gas infrastructure in a world that is rapidly adding enough cheap green electricity generation to manage growth is a mistake #Canada. Then there's this: "#Canada, which is sending negotiators but no ministers, is the largest oil and gas producer at the table."
What will our negotiators be trying to do? My bet is on slowing the process of moving away from fossil fuels.

"The future of electricity is wind and solar, new report says.@kevinrns I too cannot understand* how difficult it seems to be to communicate that fossil fuels are the wrong way to move forward, and how much of a missed opportunity renewables are for Canada.
*I do understand: it's the fossil fuel interests who pay to make it difficult.
