Until 13yo started working on this, I had no idea that the speech I first read a few years ago wasn't Truth's original. Instead, the speech I read -- and probably most US-Americans are familiar with -- was a heavily edited, partially fabricated version by Frances "Aunt Fanny" Gage, a white activist in the women's rights movement.Gage had given the opening speech introducing Truth to the women's rights convention in 1851, after which Truth delivered her own speech....2/
