@tsrono It does but I’m looking for something small and cheap since the need is very basic. Thinking about something I can just load some C code onto. That level

Is there something out there that has MIDI In/Out and a programmable microprocessor?
I’m looking to have something that delays Program Change messages, with a delay speed calculated by the rate of incoming MIDI clock messages. I have the algorithm figured out, and just need something simple to implement it on. #askfedi

Octatrack Pickup Machines seem Buggy AF@fivexhotel Cool
I’d be curious to hear. fwiw I just posted on elektronauts about what I’m running into so far. It’s a showstopper for me for now so I’m just going to use record trigs without pickup and deal with any clicks some other way. https://www.elektronauts.com/t/pickup-machine-recorder-trig-bug/248408 -
Octatrack Pickup Machines seem Buggy AF@fivexhotel er sorry not sure if you’re also behind XATKHE or if that’s someone else!

Octatrack Pickup Machines seem Buggy AF@fivexhotel Been using the OT forever but I’m just starting to go into the live record/playback stuff seriously… the only reason I’m trying to use Pickup machines is because of the built-in tiny crossfade they’ll do on loop, which it seems like you can’t do with just record trigs? (you can do fade in/out but the fade out doesn’t get wrapped around to the beginning like it does with pickup machines.
I was actually just listening to your latest release and noticed the gear and wondering how much you’re doing live recording stuff there

Found some absolutely filthy and crucial bugs in the code most central to my performance/composition setup in #SuperCollider 🙀🙀🙀 Remember, kids: Don't forget to unit test.@madskjeldgaard Ah but it’s so easy to just… skip the unit tests!
Until it’s not

It’s been about 10 years now, so I guess it’s time to start writing some automated tests for this app I sell

@sean_ae @trainvids @quails @eko_ @elifyalvac @chorist @Kama11 Sean I caught the live show last November and the section around the 75 minute mark, embedded here, has been with me ever since.@sean_ae @logotype @trainvids @quails @eko_ @elifyalvac @Kama11 Fingers crossed for that Austin set to make the cut.

Doing some testing on the DSI Evolver today.Doing some testing on the DSI Evolver today. This thing is made to make loud, dirty sounds. Here is a patch doing karplus-strong synthesis on it, and running it through the on-board distortion units, just jamming out a few notes from my keyboard. It is LOUD. This is audio straight from the unit, no processing.

unearthed test track from a few years ago@sean_ae @eko_ Love that you’re using the term “animation” there. That word’s been in my head a lot lately and sometimes feels more apt than sequencing for some reason (more fluid?). Especially at the level of sound design, when things happen in shorter time spans… a sound can feel “static” and I realize it needs more “animation”

unearthed test track from a few years ago@sean_ae Love it, thanks for sharing with us out here. With the rig modules, would you say that each of them holds various musical ideas (sounds, but also phrases and patterns) and that part of the larger music making process involves recombining ideas (current and previous) among them as new starting points? Sorry if that’s too abstract, but it’s an idea I keep rolling around in my head and wondering how much it plays in your process. You mentioned the term “dry technique” once in a message and I didn’t know what you meant, and interpreted it as “don’t repeat yourself” technique, like, maybe, avoid writing the same ideas over and over and rather save them, recall them, recombine them.
I wish you would teach a course! Ha

the new Squarepusher track is v nice@tsrono True true… and I just watched the video and I see a human hand holding the stick that hits the drum… still curious though, I swear I hear a woodwind or two, and some of those video shots look like it’s from inside an oboe or clarinet or something? But maybe Tom shreds on the clarinet too

the new Squarepusher track is v nice@tsrono I like this! Always loved his work but he started losing me around Be Up a Hello a bit… I wonder if he’s using robots to play acoustic instruments here? It doesn’t list other musicians, but there’s clearly some acoustic stuff going on (could be sampled, but I don’t think so)

🧵 cont.@tsrono Enjoying this one at the moment. Wondering if they’re using AI-generated content for some of the material (especially the vocal stuff). But I also think I heard a Can sample in there too
