@jay I wonder why the pixel remaster went for a 16-bit style instead of 8-bit.

I need to talk about Final Fantasy III. -
I need to talk about Final Fantasy III.I need to talk about Final Fantasy III.
Just beat Goldor, and I’ve entered the city of Saronia. And this has been a grind. I’m about 60% through this.
This one taunts me. It doesn’t require skill. But you do a lot of aimless wandering, frivolous battles, and inventory tweaking.
Do you like spreadsheets? Then you’ll like this. Because that’s what this is. Just constantly looking at stats.
Another aspect that amuses me. If you have nostalgia for Final Fantasy III, it’s not for this one. It’s for Final Fanasy VI—which was called Final Fantasy III because Square didn’t want us to know the real one wasn’t localized into English. The real game didn’t leave Japan till it arrived on Nintendo DS.
As a result, most people are familiar with the 3D Remake—actually the DS version. This is what showed up on the PSP, PC, and smartphones.
The original Famicom version still hasn’t made it to North America. If you see a 2D version floating around, that’s not the original Final Fantasy III. It’s the Pixel Remake that Square Enix released a few years ago.
Most people who are into Final Fantasy aren’t impressed with this one. And I’m going to be honest. I understand this was innovative upon its release with the job system.
But the design hasn’t aged well.

I’ve been asked on TV hits and interviews lately to explain why decentralized social media is better, especially re: Mastodon.@futurebird @diraquel @taylorlorenz I also like how the Fediverse forces you to see things you wouldn’t otherwise encounter because you previously didn’t have any interest in it.
That said, it would be nice to find more people with similar interests.
